Matt Houska is a shining example of achieving one's goal when all odds are against them. Born with Down syndrome and a substantial hearing loss, Matt has learned how to play numerous musical instruments. He has been an inspiration to all people who have been told they probably would not be able to accomplish their dreams because of a disability. He has been playing the piano since he was 10 years old, and since then has learned to play the harmonica (which he plays along with the keyboard on his Christmas CD entitled "Happy Holidays from Matt Houska") He also plays the guitar and saxophone.
In May, 2007, Matt won the "Best of the Best" Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of North Dakota and then went on to win the National award by the same name. He has performed at many venues including conferences, benefits, parties and in 2005 he played five different musical instuments to a crowd of 2000 at the National Down syndrome Conference in Minneapolis, MN.
He has recorded two CDs, "Happy Holidays"and
"God and Country". Both are available through this site.
Matt is living in an apartment in Grafton with his cat, Sassy He has two jobs, one at Select Inn and the other at Pizza Hut, plus his music business.
