Matt Houska was born August 21, 1985 with Down syndrome. Dispite a marked hearing loss, he has found his life's love in music. He plays piano, harmonica, saxophone, guitar, drums and xylophone. He has given hundreds of performances including a performance at the National Down Syndrome Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he played all except the drums.
In 2002, his mother, Janice Houska, wrote a book about Matt's life entitled, "For the Love of Matthew" Growing Up with Down Syndrome. She speaks to groups about Down syndrome and how to find the genuis within. Matthew accompanies her and delights the audience with a musical performance. For more information go to

In 2005, he cut a Christmas CD entitled 'Happy Holdays from Matt Houska" in which he incorporated the keyboard and harmonica together for a memorable collection of Christmas favorites.
In 2007, he recorded another CD entitled "God and Country."
At present, he is working at Pizza Hut in Grafton, North Dakota, and also doing what he loves most, playing for appreciative audiences.
Matt has two older brothers, Clint and Todd Potulny, a sister-in-law, Delene and three nephews, Tyler, Tanner and Austin, and one neice, Ashley.
He lives at home with his parents, Janice and Ron Houska in Grafton, North Dakota.
